What is up with turning a blind eye to institutionalized discrimination and the use of discriminatory practices in the workplace? Such efforts to avoid executing justice leads to the enabling of the perpetrators see Jena 6.

I am SO tired of living in a country that treats its minorities like crap. I am 48, black, educated with 2 college degrees and still have 23 year old white males telling me what to do and firing me because of their own insecurities. Where's the equality in that?

I am SO tired of living in a country that treats its minorities and women like crap. I am a 64 year old "white" woman who has been discriminated against my entire life. I'm no idiot, I KNOW I have "white privilege" but I clearly lack "male privilege" which has cost me untold thousands of dollars in my lifetime. I've always been smart, pretty well educated and I was 61 when I finally got the tech job I should have had 35 years ago. My new supervisor is 26 years old, ten years younger than my youngest kid. I can only wish success for her having opportunities I didn't even dream about. Thanks for reading this.

Hello,

I am glad that I have the opportunity to, at least, respond to “What’s on your mind.” Especially since, there are a lot of things on my mind.

First, I am disappointed in the fact that I do not hear/read too many comments made by the candidates regarding people with disabilities. This is the largest "minority" group, and is the most inclusive.

Over 70% of individuals with disabilities want to work, but are not working. Why are disability related issues (i.e., employment, education, etc) a 'back burner" topic instead of always being at the forefront?

I have read Mr. Obama's plan regarding people with disabilities, but why doesn't he talk about it more often? I have not read too much, or anything, on Mr. McCain. Due to the wars, many service men and women are returning home with a variety of disabilities. What about services to them, and to civilians? Why is it that people who, supposedly, are there to assist individuals with disabilities are not held accountable for their jobs? I have seen it and witnessed it. It is as if “they” do not matter, or that population does not matter. You would think that the candidates would talk more about disability, since it affects everyone! Are we that afraid of disability, of individuals with disabilities?

Why don't we as a Black community, as a community, address issues related to disability? Yes, I know that question goes to NAACP, but I had to ask it. Do you know how many young people, young, Black, males, become users of wheelchairs due to gang violence?

I'm just so sadden by the lack of action we have taken when it comes to disability. Keep this in mind: We all will be confronted by a disability during our lifetime, either naturally, through age, congenital situations, or through acquired circumstances (e.g., accidents). Ultimately, disability related issues are everyone’s issues. I just wish more people cared, or if they do, they would step up.

Thanks for your time,

Shon

Ken Blackwell, New York Sun, wrote an article which is currently being passed around by some Republicans, one of whom is my employer. This is beyond "political posturing". This is Republicanism at it's worst .

I would like to hear John McCain respond to Ken Blackwell's article and particularly the following quote.

"According to The Book of Revelations the anti-christ is:

"The anti-christ will be a man, in his 40s, of MUSLIM descent, who will deceive the nations with persuasive language, and have a MASSIVE Christ-like appeal....the prophecy says that people will flock to him and he will promise false hope and world peace, and when he is in power, will destroy everything. Is it OBAMA?? "

Venezuela is paying $0.17 per gallon for gas!!!!!! What are the Venezuelans doing that the U.S. cannot or will not do? This alleged fuel crisis only allows for more gouging in other areas such as rental properties in Central Business Districts where people have to commute from outlying areas. Although folks are trying to offset the fuel costs for transportation by coming back to the city, the landlords will increase rental fees accordingly due to high demand and current state of address. WE WANT VENEZUELAN PRICES!!!!!!

What I'd really like to hear the candidates address right now is "Will everyone's vote count in this Presidential election?" I heard someone being interviewed on Air America who said that Congress has NOT addressed this problem, and that voting in Ohio and Florida could be as screwed up as we saw in 2000 and 2004. What can citizens do to make sure that heavily Democratic voting districts get their fair share of voting machines?

As we approach November to elect a new President, it is really amazing to me how "LOW" certain media personalities (radio or TV) (Republican, Independent or Democrat but mostly Republican) will steep to play on people's fears, creating a landscape of fear by white men, white women, black women, Hispanic men and women to vote for a black candidate. By virtue of their verbal vileness, these people instigate or ignite more hate and fear in the American Electorate. At a time when there is real interest in voting, these verbal piranhas are deliberately racially divisive. As Americans, we should call them ALL OUT and tell them enough of the rhetoric, stick to the facts and the issues that matter.

I have to ask why illegal immigration and border security are not on the list of critical issues?
Health Care, jobs and education are all being affected by rampant illegal immigration and the corruption it brings to our communities and our government.
Acceptance to colleges and Universities are going to illegal aliens, these are seats that need to be filled with the best and brightest citizens first. All citizens of all ethnicities are getting ripped off when those who show contempt for our dominate culture -the rule of law- go to the front of the line and receive preferential treatment.
Gangs and gang warfare are destroying our communities and a war with drug cartels and human traffickers is being waged along our borders -does the NAACP condone these criminal issues?

I am in a bit of a quandry - I want to vote for change, however if change includes legalizing abortions and allowing the homosexual community to ride the civil rights ban wagon to having special "let everybody watch me fornicate" rights, I may not vote at all. Surely, the status quo is real bad, but does necessary change have to come at such a costly, perverse price? Somebody tell me somethin'!

I have two statements and one question. First the two statements. I'm black, but I do like McCain's resolve to defeat foreign terrorist in Iraq. Morality is consistant (or, should be consistant). If we fight in Iraq and Afghanistant (of which we should), then go and destroy the repressive government of Suday and help the people of Darfur, too! The other statement is this: if you support AMNESTY for the tens-of-millions of illegal immigrants from Mexico (and, both Obama and McCain do, unfortunately), then DEMAND that the racist corrupt government, in Mexico City, help us with cut-rate oil prices and shipments---and reform that goverment to allow real freedom for their people. Also, demand that the state-run movie industry promote black-African Mexicans into respectable starring roles, especially in their t.v. novellas. (It's like watching American t.v. fifty-five years ago, except that it is in Spanish and in color; that's what Mexican t.v. is like now.)

Now, my question. We have several innocent and much-too-senselessly-punished people in federal prison. Here are a few who need to be freed:
Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean, U.S. Border Patrol Agenst. They are serving 10 and 11 years respectively for shooting an illegal alien drug smuggler. They both were reilroaded, by the Bush administration, in federal court. Excupatory evidence was withheld from the jury.
Johnathon Pallard, U.S. Navy analyst. He received a live sentence for spying for---get this---a FRIENDLY LOYAL ALLY OF THE UNITED STATES---ISRAEL. Yes, he deserved to be sent to prison, but not for life. He's been in prison for some 20 years. Free him now.
Leonard Paltier, American Indian activist convicted for killing two F.B.I. agents in the mid-1970's. HE'S INNOCENT, but there's something eles. Back in those days, the F.B.I., sad to say, but true, was an enemy of black people (ruthless COINTELPRO program theat got black militants to kill each other and also resulted in the planned assasination of Dr. King), and and enemy of a few other racial and ethnic minorities, including the American Indians. F.B.I. agents invaded sovereign territory of Indians, who then fought back. But, Peltier didn't kill the officers.
Tammi Boone, Florida black woman who is married to a black drug dealer. She had nothing to do with his enterprise, and would not testify against him (as is HER RIGHT). She received 25-years-to-life under the same poorly-thought out Manditory Minimum federal drug laws as her husband. She, and other black people like her, need to be free.
Leo Glover Muhammad, body guard for Min. Louis Farrahkan. Was arrested and convicted, with others, for transporting cocaine for sale. Resides in Compton, California, but arrested in Missouri. Others pleaded guilty, or were convicted. Leo Muhammad fought his case because he's innocent and had nothing to do with this criminal enterprise. He was convicted with false testimony and also because he was seen to "not cooperate" and rat on his friends. His release date is 2027, but he should be freed rigtht now.

They military is the most accessible option for many of the young men and women in our community to get an afforable education and life experience. However I do not want that experience to be cut short because of this unjust war. What are the Presidential candidates going to do to end the lost of American lives in the armed forces and military?

One of the top priorities should be to fix education. We must bring the parents back to school if we are to successfully make students accountable for their progress (or lack of). There is not a good reason to drop out of school. Lack of motivation, lack of discipline, and a lack of self-respect and respect for others are some of the major obstacles that are getting in the way of successfully providing a quality education for minorities.

Hi Normana. Here's the solution for the ultra-high gasoline and other energy prices. Fight for the U.S. government to allow drilling in Alaska's Anwar fields and also off-shore drilling in California and Florida. Our most loyal allies, in the fight for freedom, have been Environmental extremists and Animal Rights whachos. God bless 'um, but they are dead wrong. (It's "funny" that some of the best people and our strongest allies (for us black people) have nutty and/or failed unworkable ideas, and our Main Enemies have had the best, proven-to-work philosophies and ideas [Rush Limbaugh and the greatness of capitalism and limited government; Dick Chaney and the continued promotion of war against our terrorist in Iraq; Dr. Charles Murray and stopping the growth of the Welfare State, etc.]). Environmentalist are wrong on this issue, and we are made to suffer because of their nonsense.

what about energy or global warming?
I'm an energy scientist, and geothermal power is the solution to our problems.
100 new geothermal power plants (plus solar power and wind power and tidal power..)
could supply all the energy we need. Geothermal is cheap, green, and a current technology.
Biofuels are not green and not cheap and do not solve the problem, just give evil jerks
something to buy and sell. Electric cars have been feasible for 20+ years.

In all honesty as a black man I'm voting for Obama because he's black and he promises change. Politics being what it is I don't know if he'll be able to deliver. For me its about symbolism. The message that I want to sent with my vote is that we'll be a much stronger country when citizens of all creeds can turn our attention from racial squabbles and focus our attention on on seeing who is really screwing us while we chase each other for crumbs. I'm hoping by the mere symbolism of his presidency we'll be able to take off the racial blinders and focus our intelligence instead on stopping the wealthy few from from continuing to rape us by living lavishly while we die from lack of healthcare and wars to make them richer. Wow imagine how much more I could contribute to this country if I didn't have to focus so much of my brain power on being discriminated against all the time.

Go Bernetta!! I am one of the 60 year old multi-racial women who have had to deal with the much younger, insecure, white males as supervisors who prefer any much younger (skirt way above the knees) women or men to supervise. It is a white male power structure and it is going to be a big shock to them when people less than pure white vastly outnumber the ones who think that they are 'pure white'. I look light beige but when I had my DNA analyzed I discovered in addition to caucasian genes, I have a substantial number of Spanish, African, and Chinese genes as well. Thank goodness I have always answered the question ' What race do you identify with ?" with the word 'other' --- when the questionnaire asks what 'other' means, I have always writen in 'human'. There is only ONE RACE in my mind and that is the CRAZY HUMAN RACE !!! Hope the white males catch on soon so my granddaughter has an easier time of being able to be all that God made her to be. Thanks again Bernetta !!!

College should be reserved for every person who is willing to make a commitment to their choice of study. This is America where someone from any background has the opportunity to be successful depending on how much their effort to making their dreams possible.

College should be for everyone even the poor, mentally disabled and deficient people. Education should be for every student to prosper even the immigrants should have a chance of an equal education. Students ability should be determined at an early age where English, Writing and Math disciplines are important to get service jobs and technical jobs. Students should be placed in remedial and ESL classes at an early state where the teachers can work with the students to develop the skills necessary for the work environment. There are students that go beyond ESL or remedial classes to going to college to getting their Masters degree or PHD degree.

ESL in college is not only for immigrants it is for the Americans who have difficulty in English to be able to manipulate and integrate into the system by developing their English skills. Basic Math and basic English are effective tools taught in college to go to the next level. Basic English is for everyone. Basic English not only provides gramme tools, punctuation tools for writing it also covers how to read and write a paragraph to writing a 5 page essay necessary to do well in English 101 and English 102 as well as literature and prepares the student for additional college classes.

It all began with a basic education. When we have schools that teach ebonies it is a tool to get across to the students that has an positive impact on them to learn. We want students who are willing to learn. When we create standards like no child left behind, we are setting goals as stepping stones to move forward. Remedial classes are stepping stones to advance in education. When the standards are too high and half the students in the nation are dropping out of school, we need to help the lost students to find their way. Standards should be set for the poor, disadvantaged, mentally disabled to warrant a path that they too can graduate from school and go onto college.

So when a student says he wants to go to college, councelors need to support the students in the area of education path he wants to lead. College programs should be designed to teach an emphasis on whatever the student wants to do. For example; a student may want to major in English with a Romantic Poetry emphasis or a Creative Writing emphasis. For example; if a student wants to major in Writing his emphasis may be in technical writing. Education is the tool to opening a door to a closed mind. And if schools start to close the door many inovated students with imagination will not be able to help this nation prosper.

College should be for the poor as well as the wealthy students. College is challenging and must meet the needs of the students. Service skills as well as academic skills help motivate a students progress to achieve their intended goal of success.

Let us to create a system of students who are willing to progress with all the divided attention and support of our educational leaders.

I would like to shed some light on the modernized slavery going on in the Hennepin County, Minneapolis, Minnesota child protection agency and the justice system. My children have been brutally beaten with dangerous objects, layers of skin beaten off of one's body with hot objects and he was repeatedly beaten raped, and sodomized and tormented by out of home placements. Because I reported the severe abuse done to my children, I had to report it to the police, the governor, the attorney general's office and the head of child protection, all which are white and are doing everything in their power to keep the abuse coverd up and fail to provide any kind of justice or do a thorough investigation. Instead they are protecting the pedofiles and child molester employed through their agencies. The agency and the county attorneys have retalliated against me. Even the employees of the Minnesota Department of Human Rights are all in conspiracy and in the same circle and are making billions of dollars per year by taking innocent little children out of their homes and forced into these abusive out of home placements which beat, rape, torment, instill fear, and selling them to the highest bidders. Just as it was done before slavery was abolished. They are doing this in a way that they are lying to the American People and are collecting taxpayers dollars and government dollars from the poor and are lying as if they are doing what is in best interest of the children. I know about history and I know right from wrong and I know that the majority of these county attorneys and child protection agencies in Minnesota are criminals, they are full of hatred and make up their own laws to cover their own buts. They say we can't take law into our own hands, who is going to make sure that there is justice, or will I have to take this to another level on my own? Because to me, they are nothing more than filfth, the scum cowards of the earth and are committing every criminal act under the sun and are not abiding by the U.S. Constitution. Who will hear me? Where can I get some help or advice? Where are the people that believes in justice? I support whomever is not afraid to speak up for what is right in exposing these racist, wrongdoing, scums in public office, poisoning our children's minds and exploiting them and exposing them to immorality and stealing their lives away, while lying like they have good enough reason to "Child Protection" is only a cover up for the child molesters and rapists that are employed through the state. Please Help! ! ! !

I admit these are all important issues, but I think the immoral, shameful, murderous was in Iraq is the number one issue for this election. I think you'll find that the same people who will have the humanity to end this war are the same people who will address all the other issues listed here. All the rich white people who have theirs (I'm white, by the way) want to get more more more at the cost to the rest of the world. If that involves killing children in Iraq, denying health care to needy Americans and practicing a silent version of Jim Crow and other atrocities, then so be it. The same attitude that invades Iraq is the same attitude that says, "I don't want to help you have health care.

When does an ex-convict become an ex-slave. According to the Thirteenth Amendment, when the sentence to slavery as punishment for conviction of a crime has been completely served, the person is restored to the status of a full citizen of the United States of America. At present, an ex-convict still suffers the pains of slavery: The ex-convict/slave has about three fifths of the constitutional rights enjoyed by a free person; far less than equal employment opprtunity; much less than equal education opportunity; lack of credibility in a court of law based solely on previous condition of slavery, and banishment from political opportunity and public employment based solely on previous condition of slavery. All of this is done in direct violation of the Thirteenth, Fourteenth and Fifteenth Amendments. Question: What is the percentage of the U.S. population who are ex-convicts that have or had completely served their sentence? Where we lock a person into slavery for life, generally, we have locked that person into a life of crime.

Very interesting poll! However, you are missing one very important category: “energy prices.”

The cost of energy is raising the cost of everything else! Ours is an economy that moves on trucks, primarily. Yet, many of our trucking fleets are now in serious trouble, due to rising energy costs. This is what drives the economy (literally and figuratively).

The American political system gives the appearance of democracy but money, media, and election laws prove that representative government for all of serious concern does not exist. Districts are gerrymandered to be one party districts. Only Democreats and Republicans need apply. We should undertake a series of initiatives to bring about a more democratic system. May I suggest creating multi-member districts and using proportional representation to elect members of the U. S. House of Representatives and state legislators; using instant runoff voting in order to obtain a majority when electing U. S. Senators, Governors, other state executive officers, and mayors; provide equal public funding for all ballot qualified candidates and parties; equal media coverage; and one requirement to qualify a new political party for federal elections. Make sure all voting locations have enough voting machines, machines that have a varifiable paper trail. Make election day a paid holiday with your voting stub. Let's make everyone's vote count and create a win win situation for all voters. Yes we can.

With the overcrowding in the prison systems. A change needs to be made to the structured sentencing laws. A majority of the prisons especially in North Carolina and Texas 97% are African American, the remaining percent is whites and hispanics. There are so many of the African American men who were given unjust and unfair trials, forced to sign plea bargains, some are innocent and need to be sent home. If the laws changes then we as citizens wouldnt have to be taxed to death to help with building new prisons. More investigations are required into all the African American men in prisons. No saying that all of them are innocent. but some are there because, witnesses werent allowed to testify, incompete legal counsel, and poor judgement by the judges. It's time for a change. Set our men free, so that they can come home and take care of their families. And most importantly, make the companies hire them, so that they can become a productive citizen and part of the community.

Question for the Candidates:
What is the reason veterans and disabled civilians have to fight ten or more years to get Social Security Administration Disability for verified medical disabilities? Especially when some people pass an envelope to their doctor or lawyer and get disability benefits without being disabled. The SSA is not to be an adversary to the disabled or a facilitator of greed and graft. These are taxpayer dollars, and integrity should be the order of the day. I have fought more thatn ten years for the SSA Disability Benefits to which I am legally entitled. What will you do as the next president to address this issue? I have personally written to both of you for help in getting my benefits. I heard back from only one of you.

I am a Obama supporter, but I do have a question concerning his plan for "universal healthcare" (which, by the way, I would LOVE to see), and that is, considering how the U.S. is now basically ran by insurance companies, special interest groups, and lawsuits, how does he plan to realistically make this come about, & what type of timeline does he forsee concerning this? Trust me, I want to believe him on this issue, just like a timeline for the ending of this war, but I want to understand the HOW, not just be wishful as we head into his term in office.
Thanks NAACP for having this upcoming forum...Keep doing what you do so well!

WE ARE SUPPOSE TO BE FREE! So let's walk in that freedom and stop thinking of Obama as a black man but a qualified person who has a heart for all people. I think we are blessed to have him take this on, my prayers are with him. We must not forget however, he can only do so much unless he has the support of the Congress and the Senate. I am amazed at the intelligence of people who lead this country and how they have allowed us to fall to this point...it is embarassing! My family has been a huge supporter of the NAACP for years and this year we have been so dissapointed in Julian Bond and the Other Civil Rights Leaders and the Congressional Black Cacus (CBC) failure to get behind the dream that Dr. King told us about 40 years ago. Rather they chose to ignore Sen. Obama who happens to be Black and is well qualified for the job. I am greatful that in my lifetime, HOWEVER, we as as People REALLY UNDERSTOOD THE MEANING OF DR KINGS DREAM AND REGARDLESS OF WHAT MANY OF THE CIVIL RIGHTS LEADERS DID WHO ACTUALLY WERE IN THE FIGHT, Stood Together in Support of Sen. Obama even when those from the Civil RIghts Era did not. What ashamed.

Millions of us tell our children about our struggles during the Civil Rights Era because we lived it and they are still living it though not as we did. Then to have JULIAN BOND, ANDREW YOUNG (WHO STOOD BESIDE DR. KING AT DEATH), SHELIA JACKSON LEE, CHARLES RANGEL, MAXINE WATERS and HALF of the CBC, not know when God has sent the answer is so dissapointing.

OUR community as a whole has every reason to be significantly PROUD because in the face of our LEADERS DISSING OUR MOST QUALIFIED CANDIDATE, WE THE COMMUNITY STOOD UP AND MADE A CHOICE AND THAT CHOICE IS SEN. OBAMA.

IT IS OU HOPE THAT THOSE WHO CHOSE MONEY, POWER, FAVORS, OR WHATEVER THE REASON WILL CLEARLY SUPPORT SEN. OBAMA FOR THE RIGHT REASONS AND TO SECURE OUR AND OUR CHILDREN'S FUTURES FOR GENERATIONS TO COME. THE ESTABLISHMENT THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN IN THE CONGRESS FAR TOO LONG WHO ARE ABOUT SELF HAVE CAUSE US MUCH PAIN EVEN LOOSING HOMES, JOBS, HIGH GAS PRICES, LIMITED TO NO HEALTH CARE, WE HOPE GOD WILL GUIDE THE HEARTS OF THOSE GONE ASTRAY AS WE GET BEHIND THE SENATOR WHO IS TRYING HARD TO TURN AMERICA AROUND FOR YOUR CHILDREN AND MINE.

WHEN THE LEADERS IN OUR OWN COMMUNITY LOOSE FOCUS OF THE STRUGGLES THAT WE ARE ENDURING, WE HAVE A SIGNIFICANT PROBLEM, WHEN THEY TURN TO REASONS OTHER THAN TO LIFT UP THE COMMUNITY, BUT IGNORE IT FOR FINANCIAL GAIN, FAVORS, FRIENDSHIPS BUILT OVER THE YEARS, IT'S IMPORTANT THAT OUR LEADERS KNOW WHO THEY ARE ANE WHO THEY REPRESENT 24-7 AND THEY LET US DONW. I think it's sad that Obama left his home church because of all the "mess" with the news reporters and the Rev. Wright issue. Doesn't Mr. Obama know that he can't respond or apologize for everything one says about him or his views or even the comments others make concerning what he may have said. And I feel that he should have told Ms. Clinton and the press that you don't confront your pastor when you disagree with his views. In the Baptist Church, the church body report to the Deacon Board any issues they may have and in return, the Deacons go to the Pastor with the concerns of the church. And after all, the word of God is like a two edge sword, it is designed to "show us and correct us" when we're not walking in the ways of Jesus. The word of God sometimes "hurt" but it heals. I wrote a poem entitled "She's not just my wife, she's my life.(which can be viewed on the web) A couple of lines says If I could sing this poem in one thousand languages, the meaning would still be true, out of all the women in the world, I'm so bless to have you. I wish to pass it on to Mr. Obama because I think he's gonna need it when the Republicans attack his wife in this upcoming election.

The dicussion that most concerns me is why neither candidate is bothered that the highest court in our country (The Supreme Court) has last four judges sold out their votes and the American people to Dick Chenny. In every nearly vote since Chenny came to power, either as a majority or manority these Judges voted to comply with Dicks idealogy. Secret meeting with Oil Industries,Utilites, Private and the priviledge hsa payed off financially for these Judges, in the past 7 years more than in previous adminitsrations. The time for Term Limits for our Highest Court is NOW!!!

Hello, I am a woman from the Netherlands and reading the answers on the asks from Barack Obama.
I am not agree with the death penalty, this most be stopped, because the last few mounts many innocents are be freed from many years lock up for a crime they dont do.
This brings me to the Injustice.
The poor, black community, have to suffer the most, no money ,in prison, no fair trial.....
I hope and pray if and i wish Barack Obama becomes the new President, because U.S.A needs really a change, that he concerns about this, the Injustice and fair trials, doing something about the need for the poor black community, as no one else he know whats mean to be black.....
Also to in prison, to be a number, not a human been, this is very sad, treat like animals...
We all are childeren of God, we didnt could choose were to born, on what place, what skin, what parents....
People having most a very poor, bad background, and thats the reason why many crime happen.
I am agree with Arleneboyd50 with those words !!!!!!!

I have a few dear friends on death Row, and sure two are innocent, but POOR, and BLACK, no fair trial and INJUSTICE, keep them more then 20 years behind bars.
I am ashamed in that U.S.A, how could this happen ????????
I am glad i am living in the Netherlands, and we have no injustice and even the black and poor in prison getting a fair trial.
Like O.J he got away with killing his wife and her friend, YES he had the money to hire all the experts, team and lawers to present his defense, the right jury members...
Alot can be done with MONEY,NEVER MINE TRUTH OR JUSTICE !!!!!!!!!
I am a white woman, hate discrimination, member of Amensty Internationale, because i believe in HUMANS RIGHTS, we are all the same, HUMANS.
Thank you for reading my message and i HOPE and PRAY, Barack Obama or whos becomes the next President, takes care of those people.
God Bless all

'Tis all good but: Why are we even reduced to making fodder out of polls? And for that m,atter, who even designed it as three critical issues? They're all critical; and with due respect, this resembless a poll used by Mrs. McCugh in her fourth grade civics class: "Class, to help you understand how polls are used to gauge the public's sense of priorities..."
Given our rapidly unraveling economy and the obscene rift in wealth in this country, in my view Obama needs to adopt a consistent populist/muckraker stance to galvanize latent class anger. He needs to seize the inner liberal inside each voter and orchestrate a groundswell in the electorate. McCain should be deemed an irrelevant, establishment politician and quickly.
Yet for Obama to truly lead, the people must insist on progressive change - and fast. Then hope (pray, etc.) Obama's progressive instincts are not entirely subverted inside the Beltway.
As usual, chgange essentially comes from us - not pols. But he'd sure look better then yet another Repub wolf.

When will people realize that God made all people? That none are perfect but Him. It will be nice to have a new and untainted view in the White House. McCain is too old to be running for president. His thoughts are of the past. We are trying to get from under that old stigmatism. Anybody under 50 will be better than an old man with 1960 ideas. We are in a new century and we need young blood to relate today's issues. God is sick of man destroying his world. He is taking it back.

The illegal aliens lobby has pushed Black Americans to the corner and ushered in a group of people that should not even have minority status. Illegal aleins do not count and Latino people can not be grouped up as a miniority! They are white, brown ,black. Mexico uses a grey scale for class and minority status. Black America is so asleep at the wheel that I have been on TV at the John Lewis/ICE meeting! I shouited that John Lewis and the NAACP is a SELL OUT TO BLACK AMERICA. I will be taking charts and video of TED HAYES to the NAACP MEETING. I think all people need to join NAACP to wake them up and start a new Pro American Citizen group! Dear NAACP, Please change your name from "COLORED" related to todays termanolgy, please!!! Also, where is your drive to attack injustices directed and performed on Blacks?? I don't understand your platform!!
My question for the candidates is; 1. John McCain, you have seven children, according to your website, are ANY OF YOUR CHILDREN SERVING IN ACTIVE DUTY IN THE IRAQ WAR?? HAVE THEY EVER? and WOULD YOU BE WILLING TO KEEP THEM OVER THERE FOR 100 YEARS OR UNTIL THE WAR IS OVER??????
2. Mr Obama, PLEASE DON'T appoint Hillary to the VP, please; and as far as helping her pay her debt, NO. Her own words stated, " If you can't take the heat get out of the kitchen," well Hillary you should have gotten out of the kitchen before you let yourself get burnt. You have millions left, you'll be OK!!!
Finally, this is suppose to be the land of equal opporitunity, then why are the mexicans catered to and not the Swedish, Polish, Koreans, Japanese< Africans, and the list goes on, so tell me why are they SOOOOOO special???? Thanks for allowing me to vent because I probably won't get an answer to any of these questions.

My job just renewed the employee coverage and I found out today that the amount I will be paying in insurance will probably leave me with barely anything in takehome pay. We need a clear, effective solution for the insurance industry in the US. Please explain how your healthcare plan will help working people like me.

The comment by lucky1944 about the votes counting raises a huge issue that we forgot about. I was an independent observer/systems expert in the 2004 election and Ohio recall. I had to call in attorneys because the Republican observer was inside the voting area sending new voters to an empty building. In Lucas County (ciongate country) the Republican observers were not required to observe the 100 foot rule. The Cuyahoga and Lake County recounts were not done according to the law. Ken Blackwell violated Ohio election law and used recount methods that guaranteed duplicate results. The issue of Blackwell disregarding the Ohio election recount laws has never been addressed by prosecutors. Based on what I saw in 2000 and 2004 I am not voting. The late George Carlin was very accurate in his description of the U. S. election process. It's a corporate scam.

As I was hosting a voter's registration drive, I was struck by the number of people who said that they were not allowed to vote. Why are felons made to suffer life long punishment? These people have paid their debt to society for the crimes that they commited.(some of them as teenagers) Why do we continue to deny them the right to vote? There ought to be a better way. I suggest they serve five years on probation, or volunteer for four years in the military. Those who live for that time period, as contributing members of society, should be restored the ability to vote.To deny them the right to vote for the rest of their lives, is cruel and inhuman punishment. IIsn't it time to do something about this outdated injustice?

Why are Blacks and esspecially Black Christians not pinning Barack Obama down to the fact that he is not only pro-abortion but also promotes late-term abortion and partial-birth abortion?
Blacks should educate themselves as to what the original intention was of the Planned Parenthood Clinics - it was to GET RID OF BLACK BABIES - yet, Obama wants to give them even more of the billions of dollars in Federal Grants they already get. Today, Planned Parenthood continues its black genocide; black babies are being slaughtered by the hundreds of thousands every year, and Obama wants to extend that amount by giving even
more money to that clinic and other abortion mills around the Nation. As a black person, I do
not want that man in the White House. As a black Christian, I am appalled that any Christian regardless of color would believe the man when he says he is a Christian - Do you not know that a Christian follows the Doctrine of Christ? Barack Obama follows the doctrine of himself
and the liberal party, period. He believes in new age nonsense, but is lying and insisting he
is a Christian for political gain. Why can't blacks see this? I bet Dr. King would not be voting
for Barack Obama - Dr. King believed in the sanctity of life and was a Christian man of values. He would tell you that all other rights are pretty much null and void if you are a child in the womb when Obama takes office. Why? Because chances are you will be dead.

I’d rather build on the true foundation of the United States
Constitution for liberty and legal equal justice for all than
to build on unfoundational lies of the dual unbalanced
justice of today.

I’d rather believe the past 8 years was a lie
and tomorrow is indeed the truth.

I’d rather have a raspberry smoothie than to have a V-8,
if anyone had a need to know.

I’d rather to write a helpful blog even though I don’t have
a problem with speaking my innovative conscientious mind.

I’d rather live in a country that knows and shows
charity begins at home, where to each is his own.

I’d rather believe affordable healthcare could never
be fair without at least a whisper of daily prayer.

Oh did I mention,
I’d rather vote
yes for change
and hope with
Barack Obama and
vote nope for John
McCain/Bush with
four more years
of the same.

So what, sometimes I’d rather feel like a nut
even though sometimes I don’t.

I’d rather see more houses than land, hoping maybe
not to see one homeless child, woman or man.

I’d rather trust and believe in God since I know
He is the Christ, my Lord.

It is very sad that education is at the bottom of the list. This is the very reason our youth, particularly inner city youth is the crisis they are in now. Lack of education and knowledge. People are destroyed from the lack of knowledge. Unfortunately some parents (not all) priorities are in the wrong order. Today's youth is our future. Some of today's youth have no sense of appreciation, lack of history, lack of pride, lack of discernment, lack of direction, there are gullable, they have no discipline, and have no respect for the older adults; young men and women are not assuming their roles. The community which includes the parents needs to step up and fight for our inner city children. Teach them what they need to know about being a respectable young men & women. Today parents and grandparents are scared to say the wrong thing to a youth afraid of what they may say or do. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THAT PICTURE!

Our children have no spiritual up bringing or background. No father figures, and the mother is left to provide, protect and nuture. I urge parents to set good examples for your children, your nephew, your niece, etc... If you don't care about their salvation and education, don't look for anyone else to care either, because they won't. Our families today are dysfunctional and God doesn't like it. But God will help and lead your family out of the dark if you ask Him. Our households, community, our family needs to submit and ask for God's help, repent, and be obedient to His Word. Don't be to proud to pray.

God Bless

Honorable Candidates,
I have responded with issues concerning God. I am now responding with issuses concerning our black brothers and sisters who are incarcerated. I am primarialy concerned with why they are there unfairly, unjustly for so very, very long. I sat in a court-room and watched what i thought was the worst thing I could see done to human-kind in my life and was so appalled at our justice system that I cried over and over again and then I got very angry at all of you and at myself. I felt so very helpless because I had no power, or not enough, by myself. But you have all the power and do not look at these people as PEOPLE! They are our children, wives, husbands, daughters, brothers, sisters that believe we have forgotten about them and some of us have, and your system turns them into animals. They need our help. Your help! They are our people too! If you are going to forget about them you might as well send them to the cuba place that the other prisoners are sent to! What are we going to do about them? They have hope and opinons and thoughts and great minds too. They write books and study law and our political world and the war also, more than a lot of us because you gave them so much time to do so. They need our help and are and can be so much of a benefit to our so called great society as we know it. I am hurt and angered at how we have wasted our people and are still doing so and do not apologize for it. Some one has to do it. Let's bring God back into the picture. Maybe then we will do what we are supposed to do as a whole, as a people. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Honorable Candidates,
You have taken out "One Nation Under God" from the Pledge of Allegiance. It has been there for generations and has hurt no one. You have banned prayer in the classrooms. Whom was it hurting?
I agree with freedom of speech and everyone having their rights. None of which has anything to do with God being in the above mentioned allegiance or prayer being said in the schools. As I recall, no one was "made" to ay the prayer, only those who wanted to pray, prayed. It made these individuals feel better. They produced, they hurt no one, etc. You see? All in all no one was hurt, no snipers no problems.

The Pledge of Allegiance went on and on for so many years and then one day many many many years later, you let one man destroy that for so very many. Interesting. God has to be removed. What next I ask. The Dollar Bill? Will "In God We Trust" be next?
Why can't we see the president going to church "after" he is President with his family and talking about God and/or pracicing a religion on national television, instead of going to church when he is trying to win the pesidency? As much as he talks about horses or guns we should see him talk about religion or God. Bring God back into the Government where He belongs. Let the people know it is o.k to talk about God and to pray. It hurts no one and makes so many feel so very good. Jst like prayer in the school hurt no one but made so very very many feel so much better. How can this be wrong? Where is the danger in that? Who can feel threatened by that? god is no a threat to anyone. God is a way for very many. To purposely take that away from people is ......I hesitate to find the words to explain exactly what that is. Horrific comes to mind of the person that trys to do that. Mean comes to mind from my grandchildren (smile). They are correct of course. It's just plain mean.!

Leave peole their God. God belongs to all of us if we accept Him. There is no reason to take God out of something that He is in anyway. You can remove Him all you want literally. He is still there. I think you need to put God back there publicly so as to let others know that it is where you stand and that it is o.k. It will not stop us from believing but it will be a good thing to admit to and to include in the government. Thank you for your time and your consideration. Be Blessed!

I totally agree. My first degree is in rehabilitation counseling and that includes an umbrella of disabilities. The job market in North Florida saw this need to help people and instead neglected it. My ideas to open new group homes, rehabilitate, and aid those to gain more skills to join the workforce is justa dream. I want my own agency and schools but with the inability to gain a loan for these programs in Florida is my issue.

I feel especially bad because I served this country and see my friends get out with so many issues that the military fails to rehab period. VA doesn't even take proper care of you and refuses to even give you the disability pay that is needed to first get proper care. I wish that I could teach in a society that looks up to the helping field instead of lowering the pay each year for teachers, military, and everyone else in the service industry who has a compassionate heart to save others.

At this point in America, I can see why many teachers are willing to extend themselves to other countries to teach and why many veterans have no faith and low self esteem. We need a president that not only speaks up for these changes but one who will create more opportunities to assist all people to get back into the job market and off the streets. Everyone needs help every now and then. Todays crimes reflect the times we live in. Some people would never steal gas but see no way out. I totally disagree with any form of breaking the law, but what real opportunity are we giving ex felons,ex drug abusers or even the citzens who have worked hard all their lives and were wrongfully terminated due to budeget cuts.

We would rather build more prisons and fill them to capacity instead of changing the mindstates of the people. We place them in jail and keep them on the streets instead of solving the real issues that they have. Even our schools are becoming more and more institutionalized with behaviors that are not controlled just buried under the rug. Its time for a change..change is OVERDUE.

'I HEAR WHAT JESSE JACKSON IS SAYING'

In looking at both sides of this Jesse Jackson's comment About Obama, by which he said:

"I wanna' cut his nuts off" ...

I understood Jesse Jackson's intake of this man's mind-set: "Barack Hussein Obama DID stereo-type Blacks in using absentee fathers as an immediate example -- by which he addressed as an AFRICAN-AMERICAN plight ??? What about focussing on Unemployment, Public Schools, Equal wages, or Single-parent Programs for ALL??? With folks looking up to Obama ... well, they will continue to believe that's the way it 'really' is in the MAJORITY of African-American Culture. Truly, in Obama thinking that way, how can there really be 'hope' for 'change'?

A recent High School grad, my daughter expressed to a group of Latinos in school about this very stero-type, in saying: "That's not the Black men 'I KNOW' ... and she went on to name them; those who are in their childrens' lives everyday --and absentee fathers are not the majority of Black men I know either. Just as much as Jesse Jackson, I am offended by Barack Hussein Obama.

THIS presidential choice recently suggested President Bush 'boycott' the opening Olympic ceremonies in China. YO! ... "Isn't Boycotting something activists do???" Embarassingly for Obama, Newscasters found it funny too.

Whoa ... no wonder Jesse Jackson was disgustedly torn in saying: I wanna' cut his nuts off ...

When is the NAACP going to do something about reverse discrimination regarding the statement and action behind "we prefer bilingual speaking either Spanish, Japanese, Vietnanmese, etc". Blacks youth and others cannot get a lot of jobs at McDonalds, Burger King, Taco Bell, because most of the workers are Hispanics, and they take your applications and you never hear from them, or they tell you they prefer someone that speaks Spanish. The last time I looked this was America where the primary language is English. This is happening a lot in California and is spreading throughout the US. Why is nothing being done about it. We are going to look up and we are not going to count for anything. Can we do something about this or are we too afraid to step on people toes about doing what is right and fair.
